I originally did not plan a workshop for this month, but because I have
recently been having artists contact me about a workshop in February, I
am setting this date. I realize it is short notice but if you are
interested, contact me and I will make it happen.
I am offering a three day workshop at my studio in Athens, Texas
February 23-25. The fee is $375 for all three days and a maximum of
twelve students will be accepted. It will be a combination of studio
and Plein air, weather permitting. To reserve a spot, a partial deposit
is not required. Instead the full $375 should be sent. If the workshop
does not make your entire check will be returned. A material list and
directions to get hear will be sent when you sign up.
My workshops are about learning how to get an accurate start or
foundation for the painting to build on and capturing a moment in time
and the feeling of light. This also involves learning how to mix the
colors the eye sees. I use a limited primary palette and we will
discuss how to mix the colors that occur in nature from just Red, Blue
and Yellow.
Many other topics will also be discussed.
We have a B&B/Artist Retreat here where students can stay during the
workshop for a reduced fee. Room availability is first come, first
serve as our rooms usually fill up quickly. We have five bedrooms each
with a private bath and we can sleep two to a room. The fee for lodging
here is $90 per student, per night. If two people share a room it is
$80 per person, per night.
These room fees also include breakfast, lunch, and dinner each day and
complimentary wine in the evening after class.
The lodging fee can be added to your workshop fee or you can pay for
your lodging after you arrive. Call if you would like to combine the
lodging and workshop fees together for a final total.
